This contract included 2 no mild steel back staircases, 1 no main feature stairs with glass balustrade, 200 meters of a mild steel galvanised painted roof rail and access ladders. On site inspection we discovered that the concrete stairs stringer for the feature stairs was too narrow to carry the glass in relation to the loadings required. To overcome this issue, we ran a wider continuous 15mm mild steel stringer which was fixed to the concrete with counter sunk bolts. The stringer was tapped to take the stainless steel glass fixings which the glass was mounted on. With the precision of the laser cut stringer and the installation, the onsite tiler was able to finish the tile to the nosing of the stringer as seen in the photos. This job also included all design, drawings, manufacture and installation to CE 1090 standards. All certs for steel glazing, glass fittings and design loadings were provided.
